Wake Up!

I am not even going to attempt to write about the firehose of bad news that surrounds us.  Too much to cover!  Instead, I want to look at the United States’ chart, particularly the country’s first Pluto return to its natal place in Capricorn, in the house of money and values, since 1776. 

Pluto’s myth is the Phoenix -  a bird reborn from its own ashes.  As my mentor, Steven Forrest said, breaking down to break through.  Looks like we had not broken down sufficiently to receive the breakthrough.

Under a relentless attack of disinformation, many of the public have moved to the far right.  Trump and company are realizing the Project 2025 agenda by dismantling the government.  Democracy is done for the moment.  We are in an autocracy, where the will of a few wealthy men take precedence over what is good for anyone else.  And by good, I mean secure food, clothing, shelter and a job..

What if things have to get so bad, so broken, for America to wake up? What if pain is the only way to wake people up?  Under Biden, there were efforts aimed at  incremental changes within a system that was, to be honest, broken.  Health care wasn’t working, for instance. Maybe incremental change just cannot get the job done.  I am not sure the Democrats (of which I am one) can respond.  We may need something entirely new. Maybe we have to arise from our ashes like the Plutonian Phoenix. 

It is so eerily reminiscent of how this country began - first rebelling unreasonable laws and then open rebellion to rule by a king.  As a parallel, we have Elon Musk - a foreigner, totally lacking transparency or respect for our system of laws. Is the return of Pluto to its starting place, a re-boot of the original dilemma?  If so, how will we respond this time?

Pluto is currently at 1 Aquarius 36’, halfway between our country’s natal Pluto and the country’s South Node at 6 Aquarius.  The South Node is a point of karma, showing us  what we have come from, but are unhappy with.  Our South Node is in Aquarius. We built this country on the idea of “We the People” (Aquarius - Rebellion), but the South Node is in our House of Money.  We built our wealth on another Aquarian archetype - the Exile, slaves or indentured servants.

As Pluto occupies this fateful ground between its position in 1776 and the South Node of the Country, the choices are pretty stark.  What do we value?  The halfway point activates both Pluto and the South Node.  Pluto will be exactly conjunct the South Node on  March 19, 2027,  July 1, 2027 Rx, and  January 22, 2028.  The action does not neatly happen as planets are exact, but somewhere around that time, there will be an opportunity to re-boot our dissatisfaction with the South Node.  The cracks in the system and in Congress will have become crevices.  

Pluto is collective or societal transformation.  Aquarius, in mundane charts, is Congress.  Time for an overhaul!

Take care of yourself, not falling into fear or despair, but be awake.  If people you know become dissatisfied after voting for Trump, accept it.  Be like a Boy Scout - prepared.  Times are uncertain so make a plan for disruption and outages. During the first term, our protests did have an effect.  Not only on the administration, but in showing solidarity for people who suffer under the Trump administration - people fired or bullied or marginalized. I think it is important to be a voice for nonviolent objection when you can.
