Gemini Full Moon
Sunday, December 15 - Today's Full Moon in Gemini opposite the Sun in Sagittarius is the highlight of a chart that affects everyone, whether born at the beginning, middle or end of a sign. There is a news flash for nearly everyone with aspects ranging from a Grand Trine to a mini sextile, one of three planetary sets of oppositions and two dynamic and challenging t-squares.
The Full Moon in Gemini, conjunct retrograde Jupiter in Gemini, opposes the Sun in Sagittarius. The Moon is based on feeling; the Sun is based on logic and ego. There can be a knee jerk prejudice based on something that isn't exactly rational, but may not be wrong either. Make sure big, bold new ideas (Jupiter) are compatible with reality (Sun). And try not to season any statements with self righteousness. Jupiter's achille's heel is to not always be right, but never in doubt! On the other hand, the Moon is restless in Gemini, craving new experience, and Jupiter loves being footloose and free, too. Jupiter is the ruling planet of Sagittarius, so battle old prejudices and allow Jupiter to be generous and adventurous, not the victim of habits. Jupiter works best being generous and expansive with those you may find foreign or who do not look like you.
Neptune in Pisces squares (challenges) both ends of the full Moon. Neptune can make you feel foggy, not sure which way to turn. If it does, hang on a moment, breathe, before jumping in with an opinion - or escaping completely through a drug, a pill, a video game or too much TV. Neptune in Pisces is making a trine to Mercury, planet of the media and communication. Don't believe everything you hear. And everything you feel may or may not be on target. On the plus side, while Neptune can fuel escapism, it can also lead to inspiration. Neptune is conjunct the fated-feeling North Node of the Moon, so what happens now may be unexpected (like the fall of Syria), deeply visionary - or just unrealistic. Every planet has a dual meaning, and we can explore their potential for good or not so good reasons.
In mundane astrology, the Sun represents the Executive branch of government. It is not hard to see how an unreasonable hatred of the "foreigner" is based on old stereotypes that Jupiter, in his generosity and optimism, can help us overcome. When heart (Moon) and head (Sun) work together, we have a powerhouse team. Above all, this full moon seems to test the ability of our heart and our head to work together.
Jupiter in Gemini is in a tense aspect with Saturn in Pisces. Freedom to communicate a point of view, a new perspective can rail against limits placed on compassion. That certainly gets some traction in the murder of an insurance company CEO. Not since Occupy Wall Street have I heard so many complain about the effects of corporate greed on life and death health care decisions. That is not the only manifestation of the square, but I think it is one.
Flowing Energy of the Grand Trine and Mini Trine. Energy is flowing freely between Mars in Leo, Mercury in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces/North Node of the Moon in Aries. There is a grand trine in the fire element in there that is impatient to get things done, although Neptune and the North Node may throw down an odd, unexpected twist that feels fated. The Trump administration wants to act swiftly, There was an appetite to win the campaign, but the actual work of governing seems to just be a concept of a plan. (Neptune). So stay tuned for the fickle finger of fate. At the heart of the Grand Trine, there is an opposition between Mars in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius. Leo is the head of State and Pluto is the needed reforms in democracy and Congress. As for the mini Trine - it involves all the outer, heavy, long acting planets - Uranus, Neptune and Mars. More is afoot, I think, than we fully know at this time. In addition to all the angst we have on earth, this could be a real opening for more conversations - perhaps even contact - with other life forms.
