Astrology for Saturday and Sunday, July 24 and 25

The Moon was full in Aquarius opposite the Sun in Leo on Friday, July 23 at 1 degree Leo/Aquarius. Mars traversed that point in early April, 2020, sensitizing the degree of this month's full moon. A haunting echo of that concern surfaced on July 23 as St. Louis City and County are re-introducing mask mandates because the Delta variant of the virus is raising the number of cases and beginning to fill our hospitals. Chiron in Aries has gone retrograde, so we are reminded that we have not solved a problem - we need to find healing.

Today, the Aquarian moon crossed over transiting Saturn (rules, limits) in Aquarius (concern for collective society). Of course, this fits with the mask mandate, because limits are being drawn. Although the epidemic is primarily among the unvaccinated, some breakthrough cases for those vaccinated have surfaced. Although the vaccinated generally experience milder cases, who wants to get sick for any reason? Of course, children (Mercury in Leo) are among the unvaccinated. Rumor has it that there may be a vaccine for the under 12 crowd before school. Which is great, because they seem more vulnerable to the more contagious Delta variant.

Some Republican governors - like the Governor of Alabama (long an anti-vaxxer) - are saying, belatedly, that their constituents should get vaccinated. But the poison has spread, and many of their followers seem intractable. Perhaps the GOP has realized that their supporters are at greater risk of dying (and therefore not voting) or that they might become slightly irritated if they ever wake up and realize their leaders were giving them potentially life threatening advice.

You can't be truly free (Uranus or Jupiter) without Saturnian boundaries. (reminder: Saturn in Aquarius is challenging Uranus in Taurus this year) The reason? The consequences of unbounded behavior are common sense ones. If you don't get a vaccine for polio, mumps or coronavirus, you have the freedom not to do so, but the consequence is you are at risk for getting seriously sick or dying. Sadly, it is not only the individual that faces the natural consequences of their actions. An unvaccinated person can infect another adult. Or a child. Or a front line health care worker.

For myself, I was a little afraid of any vaccine because I had a serious, life threatening disease in 2004. i still bear the effects. I'm not 100% sure of what will affect this condition, and I certainly do not want to go back to that time. But for the welfare of my community, and in the interest of a return to normalcy, I took the vaccine. I eat hot dogs, and I am not sure what is in them either!
